How to register?

Registrations open on August 6th at 8PM CET. Some days before you can already:

• Click on the ‘register’ button at the top of this page.
• Log in to your account or create one. Please note that if you register as a couple, each participant will need to create their own account.

! Attention! Last editions, we held a raffle. This is no longer the case. Which means that we will apply a first come, first served system in combination with our quota.

At the time of registration:

• Select your Upside Down Festival pass type (festival, 4-day or afternoon), consider choosing a track and/or some hours for Pick ‘n’ Mix activities, and answer our questions.
• In case you register with a partner, add a partner by providing their email address. You don’t need to choose the same track as your dance partner, but you need to sign up for the same pass (either festival, 4-day or afternoon)
• Finalizing registration does not mean your registration has been accepted. Please wait for our confirmation, as we process registrations with attention for balance through our quota.
•  If you’re in, you will be invited to pay with Visa, MasterCard, Bancontact or iDEAL within 10 days.
• After payment, your ticket will be immediately and automatically sent to your email address.

Afterwards, you will be able to log into your account, and make changes in case you are on the waiting list.

Which quota are taken into account?

• A mix of participants signing up with a partner and alone
• A mix of Ghentians, Belgians and internationals
• A healthy balance of dancers in the lead / follow / switch role
• We save spots for participants adding a Track to their pass
• We save spots for families who share a pass
• We might consider your mode of travel or social engagement in processing the registrations

We prioritize registrants who sign up for the festival pass in combination with a track or Pick ‘n’ Mix credits: Upside Down Festival encourages you to take part in activities for which we have invited a wonderful group of inspirers. In processing the registrations, we have limited spots for “I go Upside Down” pass holders without a track or Pick ‘n’ Mix credits. It might happen that we can only accept your registration when spots for the tracks are filled, even if you were quick to register.

Do I need to register with a partner?

• You can either sign up with a partner or as a single dancer. If you sign up with a partner, it needs to be either a dancer in the other role, or another switch dancer.
• To keep the festival balanced, we welcome an equal number of leaders, followers and switch dancers.
• We encourage people who can dance both roles or if you are a beginner and are open for learning both roles, to sign up as a switch dancer. If you do this, we do expect you to dance 50% of the time in both roles. We believe that this is necessary to keep the quality of the festival high, and make sure that everyone is having a good time during the parties.
• If you want to be sure to join the festival together, you better register with a partner. Have their email address ready at the time of registration.
• You don’t need to choose the same track as your partner, but you need to select the same pass (festival, 4-day or afternoon) or Single Ticket type.

Who can participate?

• The Upside Down Festival’s activities are open to all bodies. Read our Code of Conduct for more information. On the venues page you can check the accessibility for our locations.
• We brief our inspirers about working with dancers of different ages, levels and bodies, and encourage them to develop inclusive teaching methods.
• We strongly believe that diversity is enriching for all participants, and want to make the festival as inclusive as possible. We know this is an ongoing process, so please let us know how we can do better.
• We invite you to let us know in the registration form or by email if there is anything we can take into account regarding the inclusivity of the Festival’s activities.

When do I pay?

• You only pay when your registration has been confirmed. You will receive an email with info.
• Payment has to be done within 10 days after you have received the payment details.
• Questions or problems regarding the payment? Don’t hesitate to contact us via email. 
• You can request to pay in split payments. Contact us via email.

Can I cancel?

• If you haven’t paid yet, you can cancel your ticket by sending us an email. Please do this, so we can give your spot to someone else.
• If you have paid already, please let us know and we’ll see if there is someone who can fill your spot. As we already bear some costs, we’ll ask for a €10 administrative fee. UPDATE 19/12: One week before the festival, we are not sold out yet. This means we won’t be able to give your spot to somebody else and give your money back. Please resell your ticket on your own ⬇️
• You can resell your ticket on your own, on condition that you transfer your ticket in the system (you can do so in your account) or let us know via email who is the new pass holder. Please note that we can not divide items on your ticket. You need to sell it as a package.

General festival rules

• If we did not receive your payment within ten days, your registration may be cancelled in order to give other people a chance to participate.
• If you received a spot because you signed up with a partner, your spot is only secured if your partner has also registered and paid. If your partner cancels the festival, you will need to find a replacement in order to keep your spot. You can either find a replacement yourself or write an email to us as we might be able to find someone from our waiting list.
• By registering for Upside Down Festival, you agree to pictures and videos being made, shared and used on social media and for our own marketing purposes.  If you do not want to photographed or filmed, e-mail us. You will be given a no-media bracelet as an indicator for our media team.
• If you are a participant to the festival and want to take pictures yourself with a camera, please respect these rules: 1) our media team has priority 2) do not photograph participants with a no-media bracelet 3) in the context of performances, competitions, talks… maximum 2 photographers at the time 4) you agree to sharing your photo album with us to post online.
• For the rare occasion of an inspirer getting sick or not being able to join we might have to substitute the inspirer in your track or we might have to change the schedule.
• We reserve ourselves the right to change time and/or location of the evening parties, and will communicate any changes on the website and social media.
• LouisLou vzw (Upside Down), the organizer of Upside Down Festival, reserves itself the right to refuse admittance to anyone during the festival.
• If you disregard our code of conduct, you may be asked to leave without any refunds given.
• LouisLou vzw (Upside Down), the organizer of Upside Down Festival, does not take any responsibility for incidents and/or injuries, nor for personal items or valuables that are lost or stolen during the event. Please look out for yourself and for others as well.
• With your registration to this festival you accept our Terms and Conditions, including the general festival rules above, and Code of Conduct.
