Lester’s Blues – Saturday December 27th (party at night)

 

A Belgian swing jazz septet formed to pay tribute to the artistry of Lester Young, Count Basie and their peers,  Lester’s Blues made a debut album in 2018 ‘Hommage to Lester Young & the Basie-ites’

Since then, they have played at many jazz venues & dance festivals, getting the crowd to swing from start to finish.

Soul Strollers – Sunday December 28th (Jazz Cafe, afternoon)

 

The Soul Strollers revive the raw, irresistible sound of the 50’s & 60’s, inspired by legends like Wild Bill Davis, Jack McDuff and Lou Donaldson.

This trio delivers an exciting mix of swing, blues and groove. Warm hammond tones, rolling drums and fiery saxophone solo’s will keep you glued to the dance floor from start to finish!

Swing Kitchen Upside Down Festival

Swing Kitchen – Sunday December 28th (party at night)

 

Swing Kitchen = 6 Ghentians & top musicians who mix traditional ingredients in their own unique way.

They serve up powerful vocals on a bed of driving rhythm and crazy piano jumps, seasoned with popping sax lines and a pinch of humor. The stew of classics and forgotten vegetables will make you tap your feet uncontrollably!

Ewan Bleach & the Cable Street Rag Band – Monday December 29th (Jazz Cafe, afternoon + party at night)

 

The Cable Street Rag Band formed in 2013 in London for a weekly Thursday swing dance which continues to this day. These 7 musicians play old style jazz ‘for dancing and romancing’, from 1920s blues and ragtime to 1930s foxtrots and swing, their main influences being King Oliver, Sidney Bechet and Billie Holiday and Django Rheinhart.

Expect raucous News Orleans horns, earthy blues and groovy swing all tinged with the dreamy romanticism of days gone by in a formation lead by Ewan Bleach.

Easy Pete and the Early Pearls – Tuesday December 30th (Jazz Cafe, afternoon)

 

Easy Pete and the Early Pearls bring an irresistible mix of swing, early R&B and groove. They take you back to the golden days of Earl Bostic and Louis Jordan, mixed with the atmosphere of Fats Waller and cult classics.

Led by singer and double bassist Pieter Mortier, the quartet creates a sound that is raw, playful and danceable at the same time. Whether you dance lindy hop or blues, with Easy Pete it’s always a party.

The Morning Call Jazz Band – Tuesday December 30th (party at night)

 

Five young musicians with overflowing energy who willingly share their passion for swing inspired by composers and musicians such as Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet, Count Basie…

Talented instrumentalists, they also feast their voices when they sing – in chorus or solos – in the style of Barber Shop (Mills Brothers).

Fully charged with an explosive and accurate sense of rhythm and melodies, they will enchant you with their music!
