Hop Sh Bam Connection (BE)

More to be announced!

Meet the band

The Hop-sh-Bam Connection… What’s in a word? Hop refers to Lindy hop dancing. Bam represents the energy the band exudes when they play for dancers. Connection refers to the mutual connection needed between dancers/musicians for smooth moves and swinging grooves.

In short, an incredible band with 6 local musicians bursting with talent that, led by trumpeter Marie – Anne Standaert, pays homage to the atmosphere and artists of the Savoy Ballroom, during the thirties and forties, in New York.

‘t Mouvement Bigband (BE)

More to be announced!

Meet the band

As long as time travelling remains science fiction, big band ‘t Mouvement is the best alternative to take you back to the swing era. Think of classic tunes written in the late 30s and 40s by giants such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Gene Krupa and you’ve got the sound of ‘t Mouvement!

The band counts over 20 musicians that share friendship and the passion for music, under the dedicated leadership of trumpet player Marie-Anne Standaert. Apart from its broad swing repertoire, ‘t Mouvement is also exploring other styles such as funk, latin and fusion, which regularly appear on the playlist. Over the years, the band has managed to reach a broad audience and to build up a strong fan crowd among swing music lovers.

Jake Walker (BE)

More to be announced!

Meet the band

Jamaican ginger, or in short ‘Jake’, was a long used patented medicine in the US that contained alcohol. When prohibition came around in the 1920’s, Jake became very popular for the wrong reasons. The government got notice of the abuse and banned the product. A couple of gents moonshined the booze, but unfortunately, the new Jake flavor contained chemicals that caused paralysis in the hands and legs. The numbness led sufferers to walk with a distinct manner, a.k.a. Jake Walker.

Now, a hundred years later, Jake is back. Not as an illegal beverage, but as a strong flavored swing band. These guys are cooking in pubs and clubs every week. Their swing style and attitude made them very popular, particularly among dancers.

Put your hands together and get them legs shaking for Jake Walker!

The Big Five (DE)

More to be announced!

Meet the band

Inspired by the wild hot sounds of 1930s/40s Harlem and Chicago jazz, The Big Five have established themselves as Berlin’s most authentic swing-era combo. Combining a driving rhythm section, a fiery horn-led frontline and dynamic song-arrangements, this international band makes a deep-dive into the lesser-known repertoire of the Swing Golden Age – as well as a strong emphasis on original compositions. Ranging in size from the core quintet to the full septet lineup.

The Big Five are veterans of Berlin’s famed Lindy-hop and Balboa dance-halls and know how to turn a mild-mannered dance party into a raging frenzy of swing-outs. With their sharp attire and an intense passion for authentic swing-era jazz, these cats will certainly make you Jump for Joy!

Reverent Juke (BE)

More to be announced!

Meet the band

Born in 2015 out of the collaboration between the arranger Mathieu Najean and the dancer Sep Vermeersch, Reverent Juke has its roots in the golden era of swing.

The band is devoted to play for the dances that boosted the origins of swing. Or let’s say, they juke the hell out of Jazz. They play ad lib, or rearranged tunes bye Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Chick Webb, Earl Hines and even Buddy Johnson. “Reverent Juke” plays the classic and some gems from the golden age of swing.

With an explosive rhythm section built on the swinging drums of Tom Lambrecht, the bouncing bass and singing of Andrew Bolton and the wild stride of Julien Gillain, “Reverent Juke” sets the swing on fire with its three blowers, Martin Bolton on clarinet, Pauline Leblond on trumpet and Mathieu Najean on reeds, blowing there horns on the fiery flames till they drop.

Pre- and After-party will be held in local bars where we usually dance during the year.
